Mi Browser and more Chinese apps have reportedly been banned in India
The Mi Browser app is not any longer available on the Google Play Store
This comes following the ban on 59 Chinese apps in June
More Chinese apps are banned in India in the week , including apps from Xiaomi and Baidu, Reuters reported on Wednesday. Among the newly banned apps is Mi Browser, which is that the default internet browser that comes pre-installed on Xiaomi phones.
The Indian government banned 59 Chinese apps in June, including TikTok, UC Browser, ShareIT, and other highly popular apps. In July, 47 more apps, which were allegedly clones of the first 59 apps, were also banned.
Xiaomi’s Mi Community app was a part of the first 59 apps that were banned in June and now the Mi Browser is reportedly banned also . If true, this suggests that the corporate will need to stop pre-installing the Mi Browser on upcoming Mi and Redmi smartphones in India.
It is still unclear what percentage new Chinese apps are banned in the week india is yet to supply an inventory . A Xiaomi spokesperson has provided a response the Mi Browser ban and has stated that “was understanding the event and can take appropriate measures.”
