POCO brand always comes with surprises. Poco F1 is a super hit model, which rose bar for POCO to come with more and more innovative Mobile handsets.
But later Poco took a different route to capture the budget range market; so they released lots of budget handsets. To satisfy the customer on the budget range they started to import models from their parent company Xiaomi.
Even though Poco is a separate and fully capable Mobile brand, they still uses models from Xiaomi.
Performance
POCO M2 Pro has a look like Specification from Redmi Note 9 Pro. Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor, Qualcomm Adreno 618 GPU. Comes with 6GB/4 GB RAM Variants with storage of 64 GB and 128 GB Expandable up to 512 GB.
We tested the processor with Multitasking and few games. With consideration of the budget, Poco M2 Pro performed very well. POCO M2 Pro biggest plus is that it has a 5000 mah battery and supported by 33 W fast charging.
The battery is really good and holds for more than a day life with extensive usage. 33 W Fast charge is capable of charging 10% to 100 % in 90 minutes.
Body
POCO M2 Pro come with a full glass back and has P2i coating to ensure splash of water.
It comes with 3 colour variants Green and Greener, Out of the Blue and Two Shades of Black.
We bought, Out of the Blue for our review and the glass body definitely attract fingerprint. Poco included a transparent case of Good quality.
Display
This phone comes with 6.67 FHD+ full-screen display with an aspect ratio of 20:9. Its refresh rate of 60 Hz ensures that for better gaming performance. Also, Triple Corning Gorilla Glass 5 keeps this smartphone’s screen protected from accidental drops and scratches.
The display is very clean and fast with a good refresh rate.
Camera
48-megapixel quad-camera system which includes a 119-degree 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 5-megapixel macro camera. Video can record 4K without stabilising. By you can use stabilising on 1080p which look impressive.
But we found video quality is average in artificial lighting condition, where as in outdoor Camera performance is good.
Selfie camera output and videos were much better than the rear, we found Zoom meetings and other selfie outputs are good. 16-megapixel in-screen selfie camera with Night Mode got double ok from us.
Software
Runs on Android 10 and MIUI 11 (We got upgraded to MIUI 12) is good for POCO and Xiaomi users.
There are few glitches we faced like Whatsapp and SMS notification were delayed, Whatsapp Call not connecting when the phone is inactive.
We have to fix these by ourselves, no update fixed it. We don’t know it happened only in our unit, do comment if you face these issues. There are few youtube videos to help fix these issues.
Side-mounted Fingerprint is fast and good. If you are using a Back-mounted fingerprint then it will take few days to get used to it.
Overall POCO M2 Pro is a good phone with a few drawbacks which can be fixed by updates from POCO.
