Sony has released new information about the PlayStation Portal Remote Player, formerly known as the PlayStation Project Q. This includes the price, all pertinent technical information, and the features users may expect from the dedicated handheld remote play device.
A new device called the PlayStation Portal remote player will be available later this year and cost $199.99 (roughly Rs 16,500). With HD visuals, adaptive triggers, and haptic feedback, this device lets you play your PS5 games remotely on an 8-inch LCD screen. When you want to use a separate screen or play games while on the go, it’s great.
The new Sony PlayStation Portal has an 8-inch LCD screen with 1080p quality and 60 frames per second. According to Sony, the device will provide the high-definition visual experience that players have come to expect from high-quality games.
All of the native DualSense features, including adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, come with the PlayStation Portal by default. By doing this, customers are guaranteed to get a complete gaming experience even when playing remotely.
Seamless Connectivity and Gaming Freedom with PlayStation Portal Remote Player
“PlayStation Portal will connect remotely to your PS5 over Wi-Fi, so you’ll be able to swiftly jump from playing on your PS5 to your PlayStation Portal,” said Hideaki Nishino, Senior Vice President of Platform Experience at SIE. He added, “PlayStation Portal can play supported games that are installed on your PS5 console and use the Dual Sense controller.”
However, Sony also notes that the PlayStation Portal Remote Player won’t support PS VR2 games, which require the headset, and “games that are streamed through PlayStation Plus Premium’s cloud streaming.”
For wired audio, the remote player has a 3.5mm headphone connector. However, Bluetooth support is a notable omission. Consequently, the PlayStation Portal cannot be used with any wireless headsets currently on the market, including Sony’s Pulse 3D. Sony has instead unveiled a specialized technology called “PlayStation Link.” To go along with this technology, they are selling new ear buds and headsets with the names PlayStation Pulse Elite and Pulse Explore, which both provide “lossless audio.”
In the US, the PlayStation Project Q will retail for $199, or approximately Rs 17,000. Sony is aiming for a launch later this year even though they are yet to announce a specific release date. The cost of PlayStation Portal in India remains undisclosed. Given that the PSVR 2 system has been launched in numerous locations worldwide but has not yet done so in India, this is not surprising.
The prices of the Pulse Elite and Pulse Explore are $149 and $199, respectively. Sony has stated that more details on the launch date will be made available “soon.”
