Major airline Air India introduced a new logo and livery on Thursday as part of a rebranding effort after being acquired by Tata Group in January 2022. The new logo and livery feature shades of red, golden, and violet.

This bold step coincides with the airline’s ambitious effort to transform its fleet, which boasts an unprecedented acquisition of 470 state-of-the aircraft in a historic multibillion-dollar pact.

According to Air India, the new brand identity and new aircraft livery “captures the essence of a bold new India”. This is a turning point in the transformation of Vihaan AI.

The new look transforms the recognizable Indian window shape, which Air India has historically used, into a gold window frame that becomes the foundation of the new brand design system and symbolizes a “Window of Possibilities,” said Air India in a statement.

“Air India’s new logo symbol – ‘The Vista’ – is inspired by the peak of the gold window frame, signifying limitless possibilities, progressiveness, and the airline’s bold, confident outlook for the future,” said Air India.

Campbell Wilson, Air India CEO & MD, said: “Our transformative new brand reflects an ambition to make Air India a world-class airline serving guests from around the globe, and that represents a new India proudly on the global stage. The new Air India is bold, confident, and vibrant, but also warm and deeply rooted to its rich history and traditions that make Indian hospitality a global benchmark for standards in service.”

By the end of this year, when Air India adds its first Airbus A350 to its fleet, aviation enthusiasts and travelers will be able to see “The Vista” emblem. Deep reds, rich aubergines, and glistening gold accents are used in the seductive design and livery, and a mesmerizing chakra-inspired motif completes the look.

Air India’s Majestic Rebranding and Fleet Expansion

A key component of Air India’s identity, the beloved “Maharaja” insignia, undergoes an exciting makeover that keeps its iconic quality while incorporating a vibrant new color scheme. It represents how Air India has grown, embracing its history while rising toward the future.

470 new aircraft will be purchased by Air India under a historic arrangement worth $70 billion, which was made possible by the airline’s bold move. Following the contract signing at the Paris Air Show in June, the flight delivery will take off on its journey in November. 34 A350-1000 and six A350-900 Airbus models, alongside 20 Boeing 787 Dreamliner and 10 Boeing 777X widebody aircraft, are just a few of the marvels that will be adding Air India’s fleet. The deal encompasses 190 Boeing 737MAX narrow-body aircraft, 70 Airbus A321neo, and 140 Airbus A320neo aircraft.

Air India is introducing an array of enhancements as part of its general transformation, including a revamped website and mobile app that provide an elevated digital experience with novel tools and features. With the opening of brand-new lounges at the JFK airports in Delhi and New York, the traveler experience is significantly improved.

With the hiring of over 5,000 fresh personnel, including 3,200 dedicated cabin crew members and nearly 1,000 skilled cockpit crew, the workforce, a key element of Air India’s strategy, has seen a significant boost. All of these initiatives come together as part of Air India’s Vihaan.AI initiative, a five-year transformation roadmap that would elevate the airline to the pinnacles of top-tier aviation.
