The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro models of the Google Pixel 8 series are planned to be unveiled in October. In the last few months, numerous reported renderings and specifications of the handsets were published online.

Most recently, purported live images of the Pixel 8 Pro have surfaced on the web that shows the phone from both the front and the back. It is shown with the codename “husky” and is seen to have 128GB of storage and LPDDR5 RAM. According to the most recent live images, the Pixel 8 Pro will include a hole-punch display cutout in the center of the display, similar to the Pixel 7 Pro.

An unknown Reddit member shared a few alleged live images of the Google Pixel 8 Pro that showed off the device’s design. The images are still available web (through Droid-Life) even if the post was deleted at the time of posting. The renders show the phone’s back and display, along with a label. An image of the bootloader screen, however, suggests the “husky” codename, which also appeared in previous leaks. The page also lists different specifications, such as 128GB of SKHynix storage and 12GB of Samsung LPDDR5 RAM.

The edge-to-edge camera hump and a single oval-shaped glass cutout for the triple camera setup are located on the rear of the Pixel 8 Pro. In addition, there is a circular sensor that is thought to be the alleged infrared thermometer that is located below the LED flash. The thermometer currently has no practical application other than the ability to measure the user’s body temperature.

Another thing that stands out about the phone’s back is how the corners appear to have a different curvature and to have a matte texture. Although this maybe only a prototype, it’s important to mention that the Pixel Fold also has a matte back, so this may appear on the final product. There are several stickers on the back of the phone, one of which says “Zuma,” a codename that has previously been linked to the Pixel 8 model.

Speculations on Google Tensor G3 and Potential Updates for Pixel 8 and Pixel Pro Cameras

The front of the phone appears to be in a case in the image. Although it isn’t immediately obvious, it is reported to be flatter. What we can see is some boot information, along with the codenames “ripcurrent” and “Husky,” which DroidLife suggests may be related to the Google Tensor G3.

Beyond that, there isn’t much to infer from the leak, but in the past few years, leaks of this nature have elicited a response from Google; as a result, we wonder if they will do likewise now and share official images of the phone. On that one, we’ll wait and watch.

The Tensor G3, which is reported to significantly outperform Tensor G2, is said to power the Pixel 8, and the cameras on the Pro are expected to receive updated sensors, with a 50-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL GN2 leading the way.

Although the precise date of Google’s announcement of its new products is unknown, the second week of October would follow the previous release pattern.
