The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are Samsung‘s next foldable devices and  will go on sale shortly. Although several products are expected from Samsung, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 seems to be the main focus of the company’s event.  Although both devices have been the subject of plenty of leaks, it seems the rumor mill isn’t quite done with them just yet.

Images of both smartphones that appear to corroborate previously revealed details regarding each device’s hinge have now been made public by a reliable source. The fans and tech enthusiasts have been eagerly waiting for the launch of both devices for a while, and the online leaks and reports have further increased their curiosity.

Leaked Images of Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5’s Outer Display Surface on Twitter

The images were revealed on Twitter after Roland Quandt exposed the leak on the social media platform. Later, 9to5 Google published them. We can see in one of the images how Samsung plans to use the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s outside screen. The image reveals a small number of apps that seem like widgets or cards instead of being full applications. When replying to a notification, one of the cards on the display also shows a full keyboard, while the other shows a boarding pass. Users may be able to access a lot of information without opening the phone because there is even a card for the weather and recent calls.

Although it is still unknown whether Samsung’s outer display will be completely widget-based (like the current Galaxy Z Flip 4), it is fairly obvious that Samsung’s display has a taller squarish layout compared to the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra’s rectangular layout — when used in full-screen mode without the cameras getting in the way. If the image is genuine, Samsung seems to have an advantage as most apps (especially those that require a full keyboard) work better on a taller display. The question of whether Samsung will allow full apps to operate on its outer display is still open.

According to a past claim, Samsung might be planning ideas to run optimized versions of Google apps on the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s outside screen. It’s unclear if this would only apply to Google’s default apps (Google Messages, YouTube, and Maps) or if it will also cover third-party apps.

The hinge design of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Fold 5 is another detail that has been revealed public as a result of this leak. Quandt released excellent renderings of both devices, showcasing how the new hinge gives them both a gapless folding design. In the side profile photos, both phones appear a lot thinner due to the revised hinge design.

Both the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 are expected to be revealed by Samsung along with additional devices including the purported Galaxy Tab S9 series and the Galaxy Watch 6 series.
